Sound recording induction

-Le poulpe. on vimeo
-fluffy mikes are wind jammers-stop wind noise on a shot gun microphone/rifle mike. - only picks up sound the travels down the tube. it catches the sound waves. fluffy thing comes with brush-it works better if its not matted.
attenuation- the  mike with the big dish picking up tiny sounds and amplifying
-good audio is all to do with proximity, getting close to the microphone. helps to isolate the specific sound.
-emphasise movement with sound.
- sound recorders
-slide button for on.
-plug headphones in
-press record to sample noise
-press record again to start recording
-press stop to stop recording
-turn input level down so its not so sensitive
-put mike closer to source
8 bit sounds like old phones that don't have a wide range of sound
quantisation is how much detail is in the sound
set up the sound recording at the right quality
aiff is the same as a wav which is high quality sound
aiff is owned by apple- mac only
always use wav
film usually has 48kHz for sound. if you set it like this to start with theres less work to do  at the end. 24 bit means it picks up really high and really low.
sound output measures in decibels
12-12db=broadcasting standard.
set the levels so the levels aren't peaking too high so it distorts.

what sounds to go and get
-different room sounds-noisy workshop-canteen-outside-traffic
-descriptive sounds- clicking fingers, laughing, footsteps

-when importing files they go into stereo
-make a copy of the files so you don't alter them forever
-audacity-software to open the files in and see the sound waves.
-click and drag to select part of audio. standard copy and paste shortcuts.
-export out as wav for edits if its just for youtube use mp3. use wav if your going to re edit it
-another software is adobe audition
-effects aptitude-amplify- to turn stuff up.
effects- filter + eq graphic equalisers, get bits out that you don't want in
mini DVI adaptor or thunderbolt to vga or hdmi
