Part 1 - Based on the discussions in the studio session that focussed on your criteria for success within the
module and the reasons for entering competitions, evaluate the three briefs that you brought to the session.
You will need to reflect on
  • To what extent  will the briefs allow you to your criteria for success within the module
  • To what extent will the briefs benefit you with regards to the benefits of entering competition briefs
  • Any problems that you can foresee with the briefs in relation to the issue discussed in the session.

Evaluating my briefs I brought to the session

Pan Macmillan- alice in wonderland
benefits or not for competition briefs
-its hard to stand out and be recognised when there are so many people doing pretty much the same thing

- i can't see a prize for this

problems i can see with this breif-
-Its going to be very popular which means it will be more difficult to win
-Also more difficult to win because it will be lots of illustrators entering
-Alice is such an iconic character she will be hard to remake into something thats not already been done or look like it hasn't been copied.

Illustration for children's puzzle

-Opportunity for a prize of £200 and possibility of a placement with tiger print and your design may feature in a full range
-this would provide opportunities, prizes, and exposure and something to put in a portfolio

problems with this brief-

-quite specific age ranges so need to research what that age group can do

Kids character
- could win £200 and a placement at the studios in bradford.
-oppertunity to make something commercial

problems with this-
-very open and need to design a character that would sell on a card.
-because its very open i think a lot of people will submit a few designs so maybe it will be quite tough competition

After looking at the briefs in a more professional and productive manner I think the puzzle one would be best to do out of the ones I chose here.
